Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 Uncapped Bonus Comprehensive Benefits

Our client is an energy efficiency retrofit installer driving the UK’s transition to sustainable, low-carbon housing. As an established partner to social housing providers, Tier 1 contractors and local authorities, they deliver innovative insulation, heat pumps, solar PV, and smart heating solutions.

With ambitious growth plans and a mission to create lasting social and environmental impact, we are seeking a visionary Sales Director to spearhead their expansion across the public sector and social housing markets.

You will define and execute a national sales strategy, leading a dynamic team of BDMs to secure high-value contracts and forge long-term partnerships. This is a senior leadership role that demands strategic commercial expertise, exceptional team leadership, and a passion for sustainability. You will play a key role in scaling our impact while driving revenue growth in a fast-evolving sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Sales Leadership – Develop and implement a national sales strategy to achieve aggressive revenue and market growth targets.
  • Lead, mentor, and expand a high-performing sales team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and results-driven performance.
  • Establish and monitor KPIs, ensuring the team consistently meets or exceeds targets.
  • Business Development & Market Expansion – Identify, pursue, and secure major contracts with social housing providers, local authorities, and Tier 1 contractors.
  • Maximise opportunities through government funding schemes (e.g., SHDF, ECO4, Warm Homes, ORP).
  • Build and maintain a robust sales pipeline, converting leads into profitable, long-term partnerships.
  • Proposal & Bid Strategy – Collaborate with bid, technical, and operations teams to develop compelling, high-value proposals tailored to client needs.
  • Ensure proposals align with funding requirements, technical feasibility, and commercial objectives.
  • Stakeholder & Client Management – Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and policy forums, enhancing brand visibility and influencing sector trends.
  • Cultivate trusted relationships with key decision-makers, ensuring high client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Work cross-functionally with account management and delivery teams to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Market Intelligence & Reporting – Monitor industry trends, competitor activity, and policy changes, adapting strategy to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Deliver accurate sales forecasts and performance reports to the executive leadership team.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Proven track record in senior sales leadership, preferably within energy efficiency, retrofit, social housing, or construction.
  • Strong understanding of public sector procurement, funding mechanisms, and complex B2B sales cycles.
  • Exceptional negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience leading and scaling sales teams in high-growth environments.
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies (e.g., heat pumps, solar PV, insulation, smart controls).
  • Familiarity with energy efficiency standards (e.g., PAS 2035, TrustMark).
  • Passion for sustainability, decarbonisation, and social impact.

If you are a strategic sales leader with a passion for sustainability and a drive to make a difference, we want to hear from you.
