A rare opportunity to join our pharmaceutical client in the North West, taking responsibility for their entire procurement activities.

A major international pharmaceuticals firm, behind many well-known medical and hygiene products sold in an array of countries to both consumer and commercial markets, seeks to appoint a Strategic Procurement Director on a permanent basis. The position will assume responsibility for directing their expansive procurement function, ensuring that the company’s supply chain objectives are aligned with overall strategy.

Overseeing all sourcing and selection activities around the globe and making key decisions as to buying or manufacturing certain products internally, you will research, establish and continuously develop long-term contracts and sub-contracts. A strong communicator, you will take the lead in engaging with new suppliers, managing relationships and steering new procurement programs.

The Strategic Procurement Director will also be expected to maintain full commercial and regulatory compliance in this tightly monitored sector, forming dialogues with government spokespersons in areas relating to procurement. With a keen grasp of finance, import and export, metrics and reporting, you will report to the CEO and regularly work with various members of the finance, supply chain and production teams, to achieve cross-functional alignment in the business.
With a degree in a related discipline and ideally educated further to MBA level, our clients will consider candidates with no less than 7 years’ experience in managing large-scale procurement operations, ideally having spent a significant proportion of this time in the pharmaceuticals industry.
