Sales Director – Stepping into a Board-Level Leadership Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious and hands-on Sales Director who is ready to take their career to the next level. This role is ideal for a driven sales leader with a solid track record in selling manufacturing or engineering products and a passion for driving growth through established international channels. The successful candidate will be well-positioned for a natural progression into a General Management / Managing Director role, with the guidance of an experienced mentor to support their development.

Role Overview
As the Sales Director, you will play a critical role in defining and executing growth strategies, overseeing sales operations both locally and internationally, and strengthening our client’s presence in the global market. You will work closely with the board to steer the company’s vision, leveraging your expertise to drive revenue and expand market share. This role is designed for a sales leader ready to transition into a broader business leadership role.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive sales strategies to achieve growth targets, profitability, and market expansion.
- Drive revenue growth through both established and new channels, enhancing the company’s market position.
- Set and align both short-term and long-term objectives with the company’s strategic goals.
- Lead international sales operations, ensuring consistent brand messaging and performance across global markets.
- Collaborate with the board to establish the company’s strategic direction and implement effective business strategies.
- Optimise sales and operational processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Leverage market insights to adapt strategies, identify new opportunities, and respond to industry trends.
- Inspire, mentor, and lead a high-performing sales team to deliver on ambitious targets.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders and partners to support business growth.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience in a senior sales leadership role within the manufacturing or engineering sector, particularly with “component” products.
- Current experience in a UK based SME business, with relevant links to the required industry knowledge.
- Demonstrated success in driving sales growth and managing sales channels across multiple regions.
- Strong strategic thinking abilities, with experience in business development, marketing, and networking.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Expertise in navigating complex business environments, with a results-oriented approach and a passion for growth.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
